Handling Jet Ski Insurance Claims the Right Way
When your ski takes damage — collision, storm, theft recovery — the insurance claim process can feel like more work than the repair itself. Adjusters need documentation. Carriers have specific requirements. And if the estimate comes in too low, you may not get what the repair actually costs. AOG Performance handles the shop side of the process so you don't have to fight for it.
We've worked with insurance companies enough to know what they need. We produce a thorough damage assessment, clear photo documentation, and a written estimate with line-item breakdowns that adjusters can work from directly. Once the claim is approved, we complete the repair to OEM standard — the ski comes back the way it was, not patched together.
Types of Damage We Handle
Collision damage — Hull cracks, structural damage, bow or stern impact, gelcoat gouges and delamination from hitting a dock, another vessel, rocks, or submerged debris. We document everything, from the visible surface to the structural integrity underneath.
Storm and flood damage — Salt and freshwater ingestion, damaged electrical systems, hull and deck damage from debris. Flood damage on a jet ski is serious and often has hidden effects. We inspect the full drivetrain and electrical system, not just what's visible.
Theft recovery — Recovered stolen skis often come back missing parts, with damaged ignition systems, or vandalized. We assess the full extent of the damage and document it properly for the claim.
Supplement claims — Sometimes adjusters underestimate the repair. If hidden damage is discovered once we start the repair, we document it and submit a supplement to the carrier. We've done this many times and know how to make the case clearly.
What the Process Looks Like
Contact your insurance carrier first to file the claim and get a claim number. Then bring the ski to us. We'll do a full damage inspection, photograph everything, and produce a written estimate your adjuster can work from. Once the repair is authorized, we complete the work. Before we return the ski, we do a final inspection so everything is right before it leaves the shop.
If your carrier requires you to use a specific shop, ask us — we can often still do the assessment and documentation even if another shop is handling the repair authorization.
